 Phrases to avoid:

• I have read your paper on multi-agent manipulation and it fits my interests in LLM

  • ... because it shows me you did not read anything

• I have read your paper "Spiking Pitch Black" and I think my recent project on using Agentic AI can be helpful to move it forward

  • ... because it shows me you did not read anything

• I have read your recent papers and I think it matches my interests

  • ... while I'm glad that you found a match, but you still did not tell me what exactly you're going to work on or how or why with me.

Phrases to use:

• I have read your paper "Spiking Pitch Black" and I was surprised that you did not try <substitute your specific surprise>, and I would be interested to contribute to such a development by <your specific idea>.

• After reading your papers <X> and <Y>,  Ibecame very interested in the subject and also read the paper by <Author>. I am not sure if I can improve <X> or <Y>, but <Authors> gave me an idea that <your specific idea> and I would like to pursue that at Carleton.

• I have read your papers <X> and <Y>, and it inspired me to think about <specific relevant Z>. I do not yet know how to solve that, so I started reading <book, papers>, and would like guidance.

Key: Be human about it :) I'm not guiding Claude-clones, Gemini-clones, or any other clones, as I have no current plans to build a galactic empire.
